Our Mission

GTTER is a legally incorporated 501(c)(3)(h) nonprofit dedicated to defending civil rights, protecting students, and holding public institutions accountable — from school districts to local governments. Based in Brazoria County, Texas, we fight where others stay silent.

We expose misconduct, advocate for underserved communities, and empower families to navigate systems that too often leave them behind.

What We’re Fighting For

Save Stephen F. Austin Elementary

We are fighting to stop the unnecessary closure of this historic school in Jones Creek — a promised STEM Academy funded by the 2014 and 2019 bonds that now faces shutdown.

We demand transparency, receipts, and public accountability.

Education Rights & Special Education Advocacy

We help parents navigate:

  • The grievance process when students are unfairly disciplined

  • TEA complaints, Due Process Hearings, and Special Education evaluations

  • Denial of services, retaliation, and violations of IDEA and Section 504

Watchdog Oversight & Public Records

GTTER regularly files Public Information Requests and pursues answers at all levels — including school boards, superintendents, county agencies, and elected officials — to uncover:

  • Bond fund mismanagement

  • Police incident reporting and campus safety

  • Civil rights violations and abuse of authority

Project Graduation 2027

We are leading efforts to create a safe, exciting, and inclusive celebration for the Class of 2027. With rising costs and gaps in school-based funding, your support ensures every student has a night to remember.

  • “Without Guardians, I wouldn’t have even known my child’s rights were violated. They gave me the tools — and the courage — to fight back.”

    Special Education Parent, Brazosport ISD

  • “They’re the watchdogs our school board never expected. They show up, they speak out, and they document everything.”

    Community Member, Jones Creek
